Dr. Akila did her initial medical studies at PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Coimbatore, obtaining the MBBS degree in 1994. She later completed her post-graduation from Madras Medical College in Chennai, with an MD in Radiotherapy in 2000 and a DM superspeciality degree in Medical Oncology in 2012.
Dr. KB Akila was an Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology for nine years (2000-2009), first at PSG Hospital up to Jan 2004 and then at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. She has also served as Resident in Biochemistry at PSG Hospital (Oct 1994 to Apr 1995); a Visiting Consultant for Radiation Oncology at PSG Hospital (Feb 2004 to Aug 2009); Senior Asst. Surgeon, Govt. District HQ Hospital, Pollachi (Aug 2012 to Apr 2013); and Senior Resident in Medical Oncology at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (since April 2013). She is currently also a Consultant Medical Oncologist at VGM Hospital and KG Hospital, in Coimbatore.
